Summary:
1.) Introduction Adam Kalisz
1.1) Blender has always been with me for the last couple of years, and has enabled me to gain a much better understanding of Computer Graphics, especially during my studies. I am really grateful for that. In the following couple of slides, I would like to present some of the work how I have been using Blender in the Academic field up until now.
2.) Introduction Nürnberg (Nuremberg) and Erlangen
3.) Introduction to Georg-Simon-Ohm Hochschule (Ohm) in Nuremberg
3.1) Semester 3/7: Starting with a computer graphics lecture (Programming in OpenGL) with some minor blender part. Students had to prepare some blender project during the practical assignments, without any kind of official tutorial assistance. With the remarkable support of my Professors, Dr. Stefan Röttger and later Dr. Matthias Hopf, I was given the opportunity to establish a volunteer Blender Tutorial. I have been doing this for five years and now I am employed at university to create a 25% pure Blender part which students will get grades for and have to pass.
3.2) Semester 5/7: Project 1: Renderfarm for Blender (GSORF)
3.3) Semester 6/7: Project 2: Stress test of GSORF by creating a scientific visualization of the Peter Henlein Watch
3.4) Semester 7/7: Bachelor's Thesis: Visualization of laser scanner point cloud as 3D panorama (motivated by lack of Blender being able to display point clouds)
4.) Introduction to Friedrich-Alexander Universität (FAU) in Erlangen
4.1) Many years ago: Blender's fluid simulation created at chair of simulation
4.2) Blender Seminar, 5 ECTS for basically creating a fun little Blender project during three weeks
4.3) This year I was involved in teaching the Blender Seminar, with a greater focus on how students should present more of the technical background of Blender related topics.
4.4) Next month I will start my Masters thesis about sensor fusion and - naturally - I will use Blender whereever possible
5.) During that time, I have been working more and more closely with Gottfried Hofmann from BlenderDiplom.com:
5.1) Introduction to the NuremBUG (Blender User Group Nürnberg), founded with Gottfried and a group of other BlenderHeads
5.2) Visited German BlenderDay several times (I have produced a video in 2011)
5.3) Various Blender courses in Franconia
To conclude, I can proudly say: Thank you Blender and of course also you, the Blender Community! It is great to be a part of it.
And Thank you for listening. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them now.
